New season, same story.
Last season, the Dallas Stars had trouble winning the second of back-to-back games, and Sunday night was no different. After winning their home opener 4-3 on Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes, the Stars were shutout by Josh Harding the Minnesota Wild 1-0.
Backup goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp kept the Stars in the game stopping 31 of the 32 shots he faced. Harding stopped all 24 shots he faced, and he was also helped by his teammates who blocked 26 shots. The Stars were 0-4 on the Power Play and the Wild were 0-3 with the man advantage, but the lone goal of the game was scored by Zach Parise on a 4-on-4. It was his first goal with Minnesota.
The Stars looked mentally and physically fatigued having played their first two games of the season in two nights. Last season the Stars went 1-11-2 in the second game of a back-to-back and the Stars will play in eight more back-to-backs this season.
Brenden Morrow was hit in the face by a puck Stephane Robidas shot off the glass. Morrow fell to the ice then skated directly to the locker room. He soon returned to the bench wearing a visor and some bandages.
The Stars have yet another quick turnaround as they play in Detriot against the Red Wings on Tuesday.
